RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa Thursday announced that tribal temporary displaced persons (TDPs) from Federally Administered Tr
ibal Areas (FATA) would no longer require Watan
Cards to receive compensation, saying that Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) would be taken as identification document.
Quoting the COAS, military’s spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor twitted, “COAS directs for facilitation to Tribal brethren in FATA. Watan
Cards earlier issued as ID document for payment of compensation to
TDPs no more required. Henceforth CNIC will be taken as ID document. Those without CNIC can use Watan Card till 31 May 18 and obtain CNIC by
then.” The displaced families from the tribal areas were issued Watan
Cards in addition to their CNIC to provide a valid identification document.
However
, the statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that those individuals without CNICs could use their Watan
Cards until May 31, 2018.
