LAHORE: Several political parties held rallies in I
slamabad on Monday, to protes
t against the delay in the merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Jamat-e-Islami (JI), along with prominent leaders from FATA, joined the rally.
The protesters who gathered in I
slamabad D-Chowk tried to enter the red zone but the police stopped them.
ANP senior leader I
ftikhar Hussain said, “The participants of the rally will stage a sit-in outside I
slamabad Press Club, and if the government does not take notice on our first sit-i
n, then the next sit-in will be held at D-Chowk”.
PPP leader Syed Akhunzada Chattan criticized the government by saying, “If the government had implemented the reforms, this day would not have come”.
The participants of the rally announced that they would continue their protest until the President s
igns the order of KP-FATA merger.
